Welcome to ApoCalifornia
The future isn’t an apocalypse. You still have to go to work.
ApoCalifornia is a dark-comedy anthology set five years in the future, where traditional employment has given way to an increasingly bizarre gig economy. Drivers, creators, bounty hunters, delivery workers and countless other hustlers compete for jobs delivered directly to their devices.
Each story follows a different character trying to make a living in this slightly absurd—and uncomfortably familiar—version of California.
Meet Ditch
Richard “Ditch” Griggs is a gig worker, driver, creator, podcaster and occasional bounty hunter operating out of an aging Dodge van.
His latest gig sounds straightforward: deliver a package.
Unfortunately, the package is classified, dangerous and apparently worth considerably more than he’s being paid to deliver it.
HUMAN PERFORMANCE. EXPANDED WORLD.
For our first ApoCalifornia experiment, Fog House Media started with live-action photography and real performances, then used generative AI to expand the environment around our actors.
The objective wasn’t to replace production—it was to explore what becomes possible when cinematography, editing, performance, sound design and generative tools are treated as parts of the same filmmaking process.
